It's been several months since I've posted anything. Really, it's been several months since I've gotten on the air. Work got incredibly busy, and then we moved. Our new home is in the Washington DC metro area. Living in this area is a little different than where I lived before.
My wife graciously allowed me to purchase a new antenna, the MFJ-1786. Since it's less than 20 feet up, I mounted it vertically on my buddipole tripod and have it out on my patio. While I haven't had the chance to make a QSO with it yet, I've used it to listen with great success. I've been able to tune the antenna, and the SWR meter shows a perfect match. I've just haven't made the CQ call yet. Maybe this weekend (right now the bands are shut down by a geomagnetic storm).
