One of the jobs during the big refit is to re-power my engine. It's not so much a re-power as its a rebuild. The engine runs, but she's been pretty eaten up by corrosion and the zincs are all stuck. I figured now is a good time to take care of it, and it'll greatly reduce my stress for when we go out. So, on the 11th, the engine was easily removed by HMS Marine. Now, what to do about the engine room?
As you can see, it looks terrible. I went out and purchased some good cleaning supplies (best place to start, I think, is to clean it up...)
Okay, first of all, that took me one hour and destroyed two sponges. I think that either I'm not doing this the most efficient way, or this is just going to take a really long time. Time to go post on SailNet to see if there's a better way.
